I don't normally blog but thought I'd share this unlikely, but true, story for the glory of my God.

This week I was working in #BlueJohnCavern in the friendly Derbyshire village of Castleton, nestled in the snow capped #PeakDistrict. Our #filming base was nearby in the toasty warmth of #CastletonMethodistChurch. After deciding to stay in the wonderfully cheap youth hostel of #YHAEdaleActivityCentre and setting my SatNav for the 5 mile walk, I began walking. At some point the satnav decided I should actually be walking to Sheffield. I hadn't even noticed. The first I knew was when a car drew up and a very lovely, kind, lady stopped me outside #HopeMethodistChurch asking me 'Would you like a lift to Sheffield?'. A bit taken aback with a single lady offering me a lift in the dark. I replied 'Aw that's very kind but I'm going to Edale'. 'No, you're not,' she began continuing. 'THAT'S the road to Edale, look, Edale Road!' After literally passing the road a few feet away, I still had no clue. This intervention was PERFECTLY at the right time. My satnav setting had changed in my pocket and was trying to send me on a 12 mile walk to the outskirts of Sheffield. After thinking she continued "Would you like a lift to Edale?". I was a bit flabbergasted that she would go out of her way to help me twice, but was incredibly grateful. "That's so kind but I'm good. But thank you SO much for stopping though." I was very relieved.
The pitch-black walk to Edale was utterly amazing. A slight red glaze was outlining the peaks, an owl was hooting in the hills and whenever a train was passing on the parallel tracks the travelling trapezoid shafts of light from the carriages began instantly illuminating the amazing windswept landscape. Slight and shallow flood waters ran as fords flowing over the road in several places, I arrived slightly damp and breathless, but it was worth the walk.
